Winner of the lottery

York (Schreiber & Keilwerth) used the occasion of the 2007 British Open Championships in Birmingham to present the winner of the lottery for the first Euphonium produced under the York brand.
Present was the lucky winner Huw Llyr Evans accompanied by his family. Huw is 14 years old plays with the Aberystwyth Schools Band with Music Director Mr. Alan Phillips who also teaches him. He is also a member of the County Schools Brass Band and Wind Band, Three Counties Brass Band and Wind Band as well as being in various groups and ensembles. Last year he was a member of the National Children´s Brass Band of Great Britain under the directorship of Dr. Nicholas Childs and this year he was on the reserve list for the Youth Band. Huw is also quite successful as a solo artist as he enjoys competing in various eisteddfodau.
Also at the presentation were Jon Dawkes a director of Dawkes Music who Huw is a customer of, Dawkes mailed the entry form for the lottery to Huw.
David Childs (Cory) and David Thornton (Black Dyke), both York endorsees, were present to meet Huw and offer their congratulations as was John Rogers from York.
